You have the opportunity to earn more than 3 CEUs when you take the SORLA book–study class.

To earn the additional CEUs, you will need to both read the book and also complete an assignment BEFORE coming to SORLA.

Assignment to earn a total of 10 CEUs

BEFORE YOU COME TO CLASS: Purchase (or borrow) and read A Mind at a Time by Mel Levine.

To earn 10 CEU’s for this session, you must bring the following prepared materials to the class with you:

1. Read chapters 1 and 2 and respond to the following question: How would you explain to a colleague or parent what this book is about? (Please limit your written response to 1 page).

2. Read chapters 3-13. As you read, select 4 (or more) chapters and prepare a written response to the following question for each chapter: How will the information in this chapter affect the way you observe, teach, and analyze the needs of your students? (Ideas to consider: What will you look for in your students, how will you know more about individual student needs, how will you teach differently? Consider behavior and/or academics.) Please limit your response to 1 page for each chapter.

3. What questions do you have as a result of reading this book? Please limit your response to 1 page.
Bring your 6 page written reflection with you to the book study session and be prepared to share your thoughts.
